A common API would be extremely beneficial. I would love to see that happen, and that's something I think Qpid should support. I think the new APIs for C++ and Python might also be a useful starting point in this direction. For clarity: in my earlier email, I was not taking a position one way or another, just asking questions about what the goals are.
