Rohit Sinha commented on RANGER-979:
------------------------------------
[~jonesn]: Apologizes for the the delay in response. I was unaware that Atlas
support managing metadata through Kafka. I read some documentation about it
here: http://atlas.incubator.apache.org/Architecture.html Looks like I will be
able to leverage this. Although, I don't like the idea of going through another
Kafka -> Atlas -> Ranger. Is there any need or advantage of bringing in
metadata privileges in Ranger through Atlas ?

> A lot of external services which are integrated to use Ranger or can be
> integrated to use ranger as authorization provider uses Kafka to publish
> their tags/metadata.
> One of such services for example is CDAP (Cask Data Application Platform)
> which emits tags to kafka.
> It will be a nice feature to support tagsync from Kafka to allow such
> external services to use the nice tag based authorization model of ranger.
