Agreed on all points.
I'll also will open a discussion on the mailing list later today (when I have
more time) if and how we should do the intended 0.17 release for today.
A Rave 0.17 release which takes 7 seconds to rendering a page without even a
single widget isn't so great. Maybe we should postpone, or otherwise qualify it
as a '-dev' only release.
