I've been thinking about Tooling and ServiceUI and how that can be expanded 
beyond the Swing toolkit as far as a proper contributed implementation is 
concerned.

If we think of the UI being 'User Interaction' rather than just 'User 
Interface' then I think we could very well provide services without mobile 
code. I've been toying with adding a HTML Controller (maybe even to the 
standard ClassServer) for forwarding service UIs to a browser, with the 
controller negotiating between the service proxy and the browser client, if 
this is further 'distilled' to a simplified XML-type form (and here, initially, 
I was thinking in terms of a user interface definition that could be 
'interpreted' by an application such as an iPhone app, etc) with certain 
service actions exposed through the ServiceUI object (and hence the HTML/XML 
representation) for this you could use REST.

Although these ideas are only at an embryonic stage, of course, this kind of 
implementation all though it would need to be carefully managed and staged, 
could help a lot with interop.
