What I can do, is: - create some test-cases - test a test case against R (especially this!!!) - lobbying for R-integration (especially for more advanced statistical functions)
I've done something similar in the past. Take a look at i55735 http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=55735 where a user provided a reference to the paper describing the algorithm, from which I developed the code to improve the accuracy of the built-in error functions. I used Gnumeric as a test case. So, the best case is of course the code be provided. If you don't want to deal with the Calc code, a small test program to demonstrate the algorithm should be sufficient. Even if you don't want to code, providing a reference paper will help someone else start implementing the algorithm based on that reference (like I did in i55735).
