Ah ok I didn't look at the super class....sounds like your right.  If thats the 
case then we shouldn't be able to render gadgets in the common container with 
this patch.  I know Han was getting an error before she made this change.  

Sumedha, did you try rendering some gadgets in the common container with this 
patch applied?
