No deadline but not a year either :) .
On a personal preference I would like the project to have it's new logo
by the time Maven 4 gets available.
This way we could make a summer cleaning including : logo, website,
buildtool.
I've been tweaking those logo for a good month to match the requirement,
to look fine at any scale or with any background.
So I'm making sure they are valid with ASF trademark IF we choose one of
them.

ASF branding is owned by Marketing and Publicity so I suggest you also check

Yes of course. Johann made proposals, but the decision will be up to
the community, i.e. peoples on the public mailing list.
