After brief testing, svn synchronization seems to work well. I noticed that svn commits now take a little longer to complete, by say 5 seconds, which is quite acceptable. Intentionally setting a wrong address for synchronization did not affect the regular commit process which is quite reassuring in case the mirror is unavailable.
