Gotcha. Checksums "form" isn't really enforced best as I can tell, so it really just boils down to preference. What you have is sufficient to get the job down.

Feel free to make the changes for key generation process.

I picked the steps based on my past experience from Ambari. Perhaps we can
add the alternatives as well - as Step #7-A or -B.

Sumit, this is great! Very thorough. Pedantic is useful for making
releases :)

I noticed a few minor errors which I've fixed.

One thing I'm curious about is your recommendation about using openssl for
generating MD5s and SHA1s (Phase-2, Step #7). Personally, I like using
md5sum or sha1sum so that the result can be fed directly back into the same
tool (plus it doesn't necessitate having openssl installed). I've also seen
recommendations for using gpg to generate the hashes. Thoughts?

Specifically, the download links and texts around the latest release.
I will send an announcement in few hours.

The steps needed to release the bits are at:

Its a bit pedantic but I think it is easier to remove steps once the next
person to release goes over it. IOW, feel free to update the page as
needed.

thanks
