Nigel Daley says the port allocator plugin would only help if everybody uses
it, which is not likely [1]. I guess for now we'll just stick to "carefully"
selected port numbers, and if needed build in a simple port selection mechanism
(calling new ServerSocket(0).getLocalPort() selects an available port, for
example).
