Your other option is to use JMX from a central management console. If you have 
200 nodes, turning off Basic Auth is just one of many management challenges.

Indeed, but to be clear, the solution I proposed is only for initial/startup 
configuration. For runtime configuration, JCR Install, File Install, Web 
Console, and JMX are all more suitable solutions.
