On principle, I would object to anything like this. It breaks the
trust. Makes users suspicious. Puts more onus on practitioners to vet
the releases for something sneaky.
I much prefer Marcus Eagan's proposal for a PMC driven survey for our
community members and users.
The very first thing on my idea list is to make sure that it will never
be enabled without somebody explicitly turning it on. To do otherwise
would indeed be a breach of trust.
I haven't yet gone to look in Jira to see if there is an existing
issue. I will get to that this evening (US timezones).
