I had earlier asked to wait to get both 
https://github.com/apache/solr/pull/2593 and 
https://github.com/apache/solr/pull/2577 into 9.7.

2577 is in, and Jenkins for main and branch_9x seem to have passed (the 
failures are on the prometheus tests)….   2577 fixes a lot of documentation and 
user messages and I think is important for 9.7.

2593 needs more work, and is all “behind the scenes” changes, so if it ends up 
in 9.8 that is okay.
