I agree that 30s is more likely to be acceptable, and Tom, you should use that. But I *really* recommend using the local BIND server, or some kind of caching nameserver, on the same box; it's not only better for speed, it reduces network traffic and is generally a very good idea for efficiency. I'm not sure what you might wnat to do there. is it necessary to run the spamds on the same machine as user DNS servers?
