It seems that when SpamAssassin does die, it screws everything up. Mail doesn't flow right, IMAP begins to malfunction (unable to write to mail files), mail messages with file attachments bounce back with "SMTP 421: Message Abandoned" error messages. At this point, the only way to fix this is to reboot the entire box, and this is getting irritating to say the least.
