Just to throw some fun into my mix, I completely rocked the perl world on my
system this evening. For the longest time I've been running perl 5.6.1 as
came with RedHat 7.3, on my RHEL 3 machine. I upgraded the packages tonight
(and the bazillion perl modules I installed before) to the 5.8.0 version that
comes with RHEL 3.

So I'm going to watch spamd and see if it still has issues. If it does, I'll
throw the patch on and see what happens.
