Summary: messages from Rogers Hi Speed customers end up with a
minimum score of 5.2
Product: Spamassassin
Version: 3.0.3
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P5
Component: Rules
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Messages that originate from Rogers Hi Speed cable modem customers end up being
flagged by SpamAssassin in far too many rules ...
0.1 HELO_DYNAMIC_DHCP Relay HELO'd using suspicious hostname (DHCP)
1.5 HELO_DYNAMIC_HCC Relay HELO'd using suspicious hostname (HCC)
2.8 HELO_DYNAMIC_IPADDR Relay HELO'd using suspicious hostname (IP addr 1)
0.8 HELO_DYNAMIC_ROGERS Relay HELO'd using suspicious hostname (Rogers)
The HCC rule and the IP addr 1 rules are not even supposed to apply as per the
comments in 20_fake_helo_tests.cf 20. It should simply be a score of 0.1 + 0.8,
HELO_DYNAMIC_DHCP and HELO_DYNAMIC_ROGERS - 0.8. Instead, these address reach a
5.2 yield before any other issues which puts them over most users spam
thresholds.
A sample of a rogers address is this:
