Hello !

I've an idea to speed up spamassassin / spamd quite a lot:

Most mails today are spam, and most spam mails hit really many rules,
especially when you do multiple dnsbl checks. On many systems, it doesn't
make sense that a spam mail gets more than a certain amount of points, eg.
mails would be throwed away or flagged anyway, regardless if the mail has 15
or 40 points.

So it would be good to define a "maximum mail score" - if defined, scanning
of a mail is aborted after that score is reached. So, for example a system,
which is configured to throw away mails with more than 15 points could stop
doing scan after reaching them, eventually skipping costly rbl checks.

it would be good negative scored rules whould be examined at first, then non
network based rules, and network based rules at last - breaking up when the
maximum score is reached.

Perhaps this idea can find a way into future releases

Many greetings
