I just asked someone and the easiest, currently proposed method is:
- do *nothing* special
- just “make dist” etc. to create the spamassassin-3.3.2.tar.gz file
- then rename that file into spamassassin-3.3.2-TRIAL.tar.gz
- upload that -TRIAL.tar.gz file
Files with /TRIAL/ are not indexed and are therefore only seen by
directly interested parties or smoke testers, etc.
This is quite exactly targeting your needs.
Good luck.
Sorry it's taken this long to respond. CPAN processed the rc1 I uploaded
as a test after I got karma on some of the files. Argh.
The good news is that RC1 got 6 passes on CPAN running a pretty wide
variety of perls.

And thanks for the lot of 3.3.2 effort in the last weeks.
It's highly appreciated.
We are doing our best! I think we have enough votes to release so
working on all the duck work to do so!
