I personally prefer working with git as compared to svn, but I agree with Henrik that it would not provide enough benefits in this case to switch right now. We are close to finally getting 4.0.0 out the door, a goal that has been delayed for too many years. If anything, even considering something major like switching our development processes from svn to git, and presumably changing from Bugzilla to using Github for tracking, PRs, testing, and release processes, would come after the big milestone of the 4.0.0 release, not just before.
