Jarek Jarcec Cecho commented on SQOOP-2282:
-------------------------------------------

Unless I'm mistaken the {{\-\-append}} has been always tied to HDFS import and
doesn't have impact with {{\-\-hive\-import}}. E.g. the semantics of appending
files to existing Hive table is the default behavior when {{\-\-hive\-import}}
is specified (unless you specify {{\-\-hive\-overwrite}}).

Hence if you simply drop the {{\-\-append}} parameter from the command line,
then I'm assuming that you'll get the behavior that you're looking for, right
[~aaditya.prodigy] and [[email protected]]? Or what exact failures are you seeing
[[email protected]]?

That however doesn't change the fact that we've broke production workloads with
minor version in Sqoop. That is undesirable, so we should be more careful next
time and avoid that.

> Add validation check for --hive-import and --append

> They don't work together currently. Though, it seems easy to add.
