+1 (non-committer). This looks pretty solid to me: the behaviour and
constraints is the same as GNU readlink -f in every way I can see, including
edge cases. And the code is good. Did a few simple tests and it's working well.
It's really a shame BSD readlink doesn't have this option - it's quite commonly
used...
