Robert Joseph Evans commented on STORM-177:
-------------------------------------------
Ganglia works but it does not always correlate the CPU usage etc. with the
exact worker process that is using it. So it cannot aggregate them by topology
etc.
There are other places we can go to get
[CPU|http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/jre/api/management/extension/com/sun/management/UnixOperatingSystemMXBean.html]
metrics that do not have native dependencies.
But really what it comes down to is that it would be nice to have a plug-in
mechanism so that others can play around with worker level metrics. Similar to
how we want to have worker wide resource initialization. For example I may
have a cache shared by all the workers in this process, and having a system
wide metric to monitor this cache would be great.
