I was actually planning to use
[UnixOperatingSystemMXBean|http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/jre/api/management/extension/com/sun/management/UnixOperatingSystemMXBean.html]
to get CPU metrics.
But there're two reasons for me not using it:
1: It provides too few APIs
2: it provides these APIs since 1.7 (As a matter of fact, all my machines use
JDK 1.6.0_45)
And "provide a plug-in mechanism for others to play around with worker level
metrics"
is really a good idea , I will think about it fully and carefully.
