I agree that "do we choose a new name?" is a legitimate question. And IMHO,
I do not think there should be any worries if the community decides to pick
one.

My point is that, given the current branding is "Apache Stratos", WSO2
Stratos is history, and the donation should imply the respect to Apache
brand and the surrounding branding guidelines.

And the PMC of this Apache project, like any other on Apache, should fight
and abide by the branding protection guidelines. Given WSO2 is part of this
community, by principle, they are also supposed to be protecting Apache
brand.
