The other way to think about it is to aim these changes and new features at a 1.2.6 release ... in particular, picking up the fileupload patches will require a new release of [fileupload] if we ever wanted to vote a 1.2.5 that included it as GA quality; that process takes (as we've seen) days and not hours to complete.
