Based on this logic, term "Java" should correspond only to pre-JDK 1.2
stuff. Indeed, this is how it was before June 2005:
It's more akin to Java 4 and Java 5, or Maven versus Maven 2.
If people do continue to develop Action 1 beyond where we are now, and
at some point the people doing the work decided to give it another
name, I don't see a problem with that. All the ASF or PMC would care
about is whether there is a community of developers that are ready,
willing, and able to collaborate on the codebase. Not in theory, but
in practice. Right now, I don't think the people who are actually
working on Action 1.3 right now and pledging to support the release
are eager to change the name. But, 1.4 or 1.5 might be different
story.
