the problem is fairly simple the solution is not that simple.
The Writer has one selection. Searching in a selection results in a
change of exactly that selection. A repeated 'search in selection' will
now search in _that_ selection and not find anything new. I don't see a
quick solution for this problem. Search & replace can be done with or
without dialog and between an execution of 'search in selection' the
user might change the selection.
Possibly the 'search in selection' should save the initial selection to
be able to restore that (shortened by the first result) when called
again. The saved selection has to be invalidated with each user change
to the current selection.
