...However, I am still not convinced by the idea of requiring command-line

the user at runtime. I can't imagine any production system that
requires an admin to be there to type passwords in when the system is rebooted.
This is just one of the possible options in Indika's implementation..
another being via JMX, and another suggested by Eric to use a simple
hard coded encryption etc..
