My fault for adding an integration test of the archetype.. :) Could it be this bug? https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ARCHETYPE-488 which mvn version have you got? We can try to add that workaround - I upgraded it to the newer maven-archetype-plugin 2.5 now - is the problem still there?
