I just wanted to point out that code freeze starts at the end of the day today
(though it's ok to merge next week if there is agreement that this change is
stable). I'll leave it to [~Florian Hockmann] and [~jorgebg] to decide if this
is a safe for merge at this late stage or if it should push off to next
release.
