Yes, you're right, there's a lot of duplication in the utilities. Was
rushing trying to get the data converted as I was heading out the door. Not
sure about your 3d point. I put in a lot of effort so it could parse and
convert all of the TP example datasets. Also not sure where it belongs really.
Maybe a separate utility.
