I think it was Matt Frantz who once recommended Slack. Neo4j has a pretty successful slack setup for community support.
Outside of slack, i've heard about this one from time to time: https://gitter.im/ "Chat for GitHub" - it seems geared toward helping improve communication/support in open source communities.
