All, Reverted.
Note that I was unable to get CSS word-wrap:break-word to work under these circumstances (but it does work in other circumstances, so it's not just that I can't type it properly). Playing around with Firefox's on-page CSS editor, I was unable to get it to make very many changes *at all* to those tables. I suspect that the relationship between <table>, <tr>, and <td> interferes with things like setting the width of the container element (<td>), because I couldn't even say "td: you are 50px across, no re-layout with word-wrapping, damn you!". If anyone has any brilliant ideas, I'd love to hear them.
