We'll want to be careful about "trunk shifting" users. If a user reports a
problem on 1.7.x we need to fix it on 1.7x and ask them to verify it on
1.7x. (or 1.8.x). Anything we can guarantee will be shipped as final
within 3~ months.

This will be our first time chasing a new spec version since we've been
certified. Unlike before we now cannot ship a final 2.0 till it passes the
EE 7 TCK due to licensing terms. This will mean many users will be stuck
on 1.x for a potentially very long time.

For Geronimo the gap between last feature release of EE 4 to 5 was about
1.2 years, EE 5 to EE 6 was about 3.5 years.

We'll want to make sure we are still aggressively delivering features to
users on 1.x.
