Hi Matthew, if you checkout https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/tomcat/taglibs/standard/trunk and drop xalan dependency you should be on track. You can have a look to XalanUtil class but the xalan dependency is mainly here for XPath usage IIRC. There are some replacements in the JRE so it should be the way to go I think.
