Hi,

Martin (Wiesner) and I were working on our SMTP server configuration.
As a consequence, we found, that TomEE 8 includes a rather old version
of javamail, which does not want to talkt to SMTP servers configured
with modern TLS versions (1.2, 1.3).

My questions are:

Are there any reasons, why we include javamail 1.4 (a very ancient
version) in the current TomEE versions?

Is is possible to migrate to a newer version, such as jakarta.mail
1.6.5 (https://eclipse-ee4j.github.io/mail/)?

Or are we bound with 1.4 for legal reasons?

Best
Richard
