   The existing vote email template expects people to put a mark in the
relevant box

   ```text
   [ ] +1 Release this package
   [ ] +0 Abstain
   [ ] -1 Do not release this package (please provide specific comments)
   ```

   If such a vote is returned, that should be unambiguous.

   Maybe the template needs to be changed to clarify exactly which votes will
be counted.

   Also, I think it would be sensible to record the sources of votes for later
checking.

   Alternatively, why allow email voting at all for binding votes? Such voters
must have ASF logins so can easily use ATR to register their votes securely.

   For non-binding votes email is OK, but it might be worth considering a
‘guest’ login that could be sent on request to an email address. i.e. ASF
committers can log in to ATR, others who wish to vote can request a guest pass.
