And now I'm confused, I never saw that answer. Only Ken and
myself did comment on your problem.

Unfortunately the ml archive is broken ATM (issue 51854)
therefore I cannot point you to the web archives.

If someone there actually
answered my question, the reply never reached my inbox.
That the online listing of messages in the list (today)
stops at several days ago makes it impossible to know if
something was answered which hasn't reached me. Go figure.
File an issue, complaining silently or waiting that someone
else fixes it rarely helps.

Now, is there anybody on this list that can answer my
question? Others seem to be able to build OO using cygwin
on wintel, so I suspect I missed something that is possibly
an ambiguity in the documentation on building, or I really
missed a step. Anything is possible. The build doc says to
go from ./configure to dmake, and doesn't mention
./bootstrap as a means to create dmake. For that, you need
to infer steps not given.

Hmm, I'm again not sure what you're talking about. In
<http://tools.openoffice.org/dev_docs/build_windows_tcsh.html>
there is an overview about what/how happens
<http://tools.openoffice.org/dev_docs/build_windows_tcsh.html#OverviewofPerformingaFullBuild>
that mentions (briefly) configure/bootstrap/rehash (well, I admit it
doesn't mention tcsh) and a step by step example
<http://tools.openoffice.org/dev_docs/build_windows_tcsh.html#GeneratingtheBuildEnvironmentandBuildTools>.

What is missing? Constructive suggestions to improve the documentation
are always welcome.

To repeat, my question concerns creating dmake from
sources. It is my present understanding that dmake is
crafted by running ./bootstrap
As written in that document.

Right now, that fails because a file dmake.exe is missing.
Clearly, it's not in the source code. There is a build.bat
file in /dmake directory in the source, but it fails for a
long list of dependencies not documented in any of the
build documents I have found.
bootstrap builds dmake, nothing else.

I'd greatly appreciate someone telling me what I missed.
You could start with exactly telling what you did and where
you deviated from the build instructions. All the output of your
commands is required. (Unless you're able to recognize the relevant
information yourself.)
