Thanks, I will try installing from RPMs tomorrow. But will I be able to hack, build and run as suggested in the hackers tutorials (http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Tutorials), without having to install every time I change something? I don't see how OOo, when running from an installation directory, would make use of modified binary components in my source tree.

If you rebuild for example module sc, you can copy the new libs from sc/unxlnXX.pro/lib into my01/program, you probably need force the copy to override permissions (cp -f ...) first time.

There are some tools in solenv/bin for example linkoo but I never used that, it depends what suits you best. By copying you can see exactly what has been uchanged.

Copying from the solver ( after deliver) is possible too, but that might not meet some needs e.g. if debug symbols are stripped, but that is what will be shipped so...
