Hi,

FYI, Vladimir created the CWS "winordinals" on the DEV300 codeline to modify the Windows builds to export symbols instead of ordinals.

Hi,

the installed office with ordinals: 339MB (349MB on disk), with symbols - 356 MB (365 MB on disk). So, +5%...

Hi,

Vladimir was speeking about an increase of 3M of the install set due to exported sysmbol, how much will this be once the Office got installed ?

Hi,

to elaborate a bit more: There were concerns that using symbols instead of ordinals might lead to a significant performance loss during startup. Vladimir's performance measurements (see https://tools.services.openoffice.org/EIS2/cws.Attachment?cmd=read&Id=6381&Filename=performancetest%20[%2018.%20Feb%202008,%2013:35%20(Windows%20XP)%20]) indicate that we would lose less than 2% speed on startup. IMO this is acceptable and we should thus get rid of building with ordinals. Any objections?

Jörg

Hi all,

because I investigated the case, I blogged about the theme here:

Hi,

I just found at http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/OOo30_release_engineering_planned_changes that we plan to change the "export by ordinal" for windows. What is planned for OOo 3.0 ? Export by name or by alias ? Can you elaborate on this ? Is there an Issue or other documentation available ?

Martin
