Hi Juergen,

Do not expect any contribution from the community (at least from myself) until this is not clear and the SDK is not free. Final document licence but also tools to build the final result have to be clearly stated as free

you mix again two things.

Why "again" ? This is the second time you employ this term regarding some of my writings

I just state that this is not clear (at least for me or new commer) and my (its) concern is to provide free content

The SDK is totally free and open source.

great ! under what licence ?

 Only
the DevGuide is a Sun document which of course is made available for free as well and which is part of the free available SDK.

so the rendering of the DevGuide is under an other licence ? Am I right ?

What documentation would be available if the DevGuide wouldn't be exist?

Juergen, you misunderstood me. This is not the point
I totally agree that teh DevGuide and the SDK is a great productive documentation and i thank Sun and writers for given such a complete document. OOo scripting would'nt have be so interresting without it. And that is why i'm actually considering of contributing some lines

But things have to be clear !
What is free, what is half-free, what is not.
Done by Sun or everybody else.

Sun offers simply to maintain the guide professional and make it available for free.

Under which free licence ?

Ok it would be nice if the guide would be open source but Sun has decided to provide it under a special Sun documentation license.

So is it free or not ?
Where to find this licence ?
Is this rendering mandatory as the devGuide content seems to be free if i understand correctly

 Maybe
this will change in the future, i don't know. But fact is that until today nobody has tried to contribute a bigger part to the DevGuide and so we don't have had any problems so far.

Perharps thinks the reverse question ?

Juergen, i've been involved in OOo for some time now and always recognized the great contributions that SUN has made to free software world. This is not an attack. I just want to make things clear so that contributors can be attracted and willing to contribute if things are not well stated (perharps yes, some parts, perharsp no, some parts, but do not know exactly), contributors will be suspicious
We have to clear on this, without judging any position. Just state it

My concern is not to ask Sun to make things free if it do not want; My concern is to state the context so that contributors know where they are going. Signing the JCA is ok for me but contributors have to know the details

Juergen, this was not intended as an attack, so please forgive me if my posts sounds like it was :(

I do not know if this remains uDK related though
Feel free to redirect this discussion somewhere else if you consider it is usefull

Laurent
