Hi all, the board report for Q4 2022 was due last Wednesday. Unfortunately, I missed that deadline. So here is the report draft now, but it will only go to the board meeting next month. Please review the report draft, comment if you see anything that needs changing (or adding?). I will submit that report in the next days to ensure it won't be forgotten in January ;)
Cheers -- Richard ------ ## Description: Apache UIMA (*) software provides frameworks, tools and annotators, facilitating the analysis of unstructured content such as text, audio and video. (*) Unstructured Information Management Architecture. ## Issues: There are no board-level issues at this time. ## Membership Data: Apache UIMA was founded 2010-03-17 (13 years ago) There are currently 25 committers and 17 PMC members in this project. The Committer-to-PMC ratio is roughly 7:5. Community changes, past quarter: - No new PMC members. Last addition was Viorel Morari on 2019-11-19. - No new committers. Last addition was Viorel Morari on 2018-09-20. ## Project Activity: - uima-uimaj-3.1.1 was released on 2022-10-31 - focus is currently to improve compatibility of the UIMA Java SDK and uimaFIT with multi-classloader such as OSGI - voting for retirement of the UIMA DUCC subproject is ongoing - voting for retirement of all v2.x versions of UIMA subprojects is ongoing. This would also affect e.g. the UIMA-AS subproject, sandbox components, etc. of which currently no v3 versions exist. - voting for retirement of the UIMA C++ SDK is ongoing. One community member has suggested to take over maintenance of the subproject and asked for a month of time to consider. - the UIMA Java SDK, uimaFIT and UIMA Ruta subprojects continue being active. New releases are tentatively scheduled for Q1 2023. ## Community Health: The community remains moderately active. Eventually, I was able to work on upgrading the non-ASF ClearTK OSS project to UIMAv3 myself. A release will probably follow in Q1 2023 and that may pave the way for e.g. Apache cTAKES to also finally upgrade to UIMAv3.
