* update the version number in the branch to 1.0 * build the release files from that branch (ant release) * sign the release files * add your public key to the KEYS file at http://www.apache.org/dist/velocity/KEYS * log into people.apache.org and create a ~/public_html/velocity/dvsl/1.0 directory * run 'ant publish' on your machine (you may need to add the Jsch jar to ant's classpath first) * call for a vote and include a link to the uploaded files
We then vote on those specific tar.gz/zip/jar files. (not the latest in source control). If there is a problem with the release, the RM fixes the branch and creates a new set of proposed release files. We've been fuzzy about this process in the past, but clarified this early in the year.
