I think that the following are those we are targetting the front page at in
order :
- new users who want to download OOo
- new users who need help
- people looking for features, comparissons, want to know what OOo is about,
etc
- the press
- developers
- native lang groups
- regular users to inform them of new OOo items
Am I missing any group ?

Let me talk about the press here, since I am part of it. What journalists find useful is

1) the same as anyone: a way to grasp quickly what OOo is and why anyone should care. This is the idea of my three key facts for the front page in another post.
2) from the front page only a clearly marked link to a separate page which will have (in order of importance) contact information for people who can tell them, in their own language, what they need to know. Links to more detailed fact sheets, reviews, etc. Important upcoming dates, so people with deadlines can plan articles.

Everything else, if you're working, is either useless or counterproductive. I could go on for some time about the giveaway signs of amateurism in FOSS websites but I won't.
