I think Daniel nails it. there;s too much information, and too little of it is relevant to the user we should be targeting <snip> Ask yourself for every element on the page whether it makes it easier or harder to understand our core message: "You don't need MS Office: you need us."
+1
Andrew's said this very well.
It all comes down to: who are the audiences for the website *now:*? And how do we serve their needs?
I'd go on, but I'd be repeating what others, primarily Daniel, have said very well and very thoroughly.
I think the website design that Matthew and Daniel are putting together (with Nicu's great graphics and input from I've lost track of who else) is shaping up really well. Some details still need sorting out, but the clean, uncluttered look is great, and the labels on the menus and links are much more understandable to an outsider. It's very close to passing what I call the "mom test" -- that is, would your mother (assuming she's not a geek too) understand it?
Cheers, Jean
