One thing we used to have on the homepage was a very brief explanation
of what OOo the product is. I get a fair number of people wanting that
again. But putting it there means putting a fair amount of text, which
none of us particularly wants. People also feel the one-sentence blurb
is inadequate; we've discussed that before, most will recall.

So, here is a thought. Why not have in the graphic the five linked
components of OOo 2.0 (in no discernable order):

Write | Impress | Draw | Base | Calc

with, below or above some brief explanation that it's an office suite,
eg, "industry standard office suite"

something like this? (but more polished) http://ooo.nicubunu.ro/webicons/definition.png (those are the application menu icons from m65)

The advantage of this arrangement is that it draws attention to the
components and, I think, its interoperability with MS Office. One could
even, should one want, make each of those links collapsible menus.

not very sure about this.
we may want to emphasize more at a later time other components, like the ecuation editor or the html creator
