One thing we used to have on the homepage was a very brief explanation of what OOo the product is. I get a fair number of people wanting that again. But putting it there means putting a fair amount of text, which none of us particularly wants. People also feel the one-sentence blurb is inadequate; we've discussed that before, most will recall.
So, here is a thought. Why not have in the graphic the five linked components of OOo 2.0 (in no discernable order):
Write | Impress | Draw | Base | Calc
with, below or above some brief explanation that it's an office suite, eg, "industry standard office suite"

The advantage of this arrangement is that it draws attention to the
components and, I think, its interoperability with MS Office. One could
even, should one want, make each of those links collapsible menus.

we may want to emphasize more at a later time other components, like the ecuation editor or the html creator
