Hi all,
I've just spent 15 minutes trying to find style guides, and I'm not new to OO site. It is 'hidden' under logo section, or can be found under issues section (btw. is version 0.9, last updated in 2005 most recent one?)

The style guide is tucked away under the "website" project area.

Thinking of style guides as backbone of every artwork done for identity 'bigger than oneself' - should be pushed as first thing to read before trying to do any artwork. If for nothing else, then just to give contributors sense of system and logic behind it (or to fuel up our sense of collective identity ;)

I don't recall there being ANY mention of artwork when lasted I took a look at it, but, that sounds like a good idea.

The style guide can move to a more logical place. I put it there many ages ago, when the world was simpler.

I don't think that present guides are great, but they do try to provide a system. Probably the form of these guides is wrong (it is made for printing, but rarely used in that way because most of contributors use on on-screen). There is too much text, but not many 'design' guides. It should have had visual examples...
There are two reason I'm starting this thread:
1 - I will soon engage in redesign of openoffice(3) visual identity as my final diploma work, which means I will be able to engage deeply and more systematically with the subject, thus producing more in that direction. I'm very interested in what other people think about this subject. All ideas and thoughts are welcome! Please.

oh my gosh! You are right "in the moment". I'm copying the [EMAIL PROTECTED] list on this because we re currently in the process of dealing with just this sort of topic.

Indeed! thanks, Kay.

one can only hope... :)
One more question: Does anyone know know who designed current official OpenOffice logo and style guides?

not a clue on this one but I'm sure someone knows.

Not sure one designer. I forget who did the logo but it's been refined over the last 7-8 years. The style guide for website was done by Sun long ago; again, modified. Art project has done probably the most recent.

FYI, the User Experience project is also quite interested in this topic, now.

Thank you & best regards,
Damir Prizmic
