The DPL information displayed there doesn't really change that fast.
Could a bot update the lists nightly, and let the page just display the
results?
In theory, it should be possible. Right now, we don't have any cron
jobs running - at least not related to the Wiki itself. I'm not sure
how we could implement this.. or if the maintenance effort is more than
it's worth.
If transclusion works the way you said, in reply to Nino, then all a bot
would need to do is to load the transcluded page (hence, activating the
DPL).
OK, I just tried that with a test page:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Main_page_stats
which is an exact copy of the Tempate being used to add teh page stats
into the Main page.
In the Main page I replaced the template call with the transclusion call:
{{#lst:Main page stats|stats}}
The result is still the same - which makes sense when you consider that
this isn't doing anything different except calling the code from a
different spot.... the Main page loads very very slowly (even slower if
you are saving an edit).

According to the manual [1], what we probably need is a 24-hour cache
specification in the DPL parameters.

(very last two params on the page).
