While it probably is a better setting to make our lines longer, it is adamant that we all use the same settings, otherwise diffs are hard to parse and contain hard to merge/undo modifications. So when anyone wants something changed, that is ok, but don't change it unilaterally, but propose[, vote (1)] and fix (if approved) is the way to go. My personal preference would be to adjust the line length, and don't go longer than 120 (what Carl-Eric said) Martijn (1) lazy consensus is actually preferred for most things. Only additions to the pmc and releases require votes. The rest is just bike shedding or shaving a yak.
